Censorship is essentially the supervising of conduct or morals. Censors strive to protect people from material that is considered harmful or material that should not be depicted in society. Censors have tried to control freedom of speech. Censorship occurs in two parts: dissent, when a person questions the normal or prescribed strand of thought, and offense, when the established order feels the need to defend itself by attacking the dissenter through censorship.
